FAQsWHY "RAMPAGE"?
Rest assured, the use of "Rampage" is entirely tongue-in-cheek. Santa Cycle Rampage is all about spreading good cheer! Bring your positive vibes, high-spirited smiles, and let's go blitz this town with merriment! Contrary to the actual definition of "rampage", The Santa's will not be berserk, frenzied, or violent in any way. In fact, due to the uncivil behavior associated with many "Santa Con" events around the globe, Santa Cycle Rampage FoCo intentionally omitted "Con" from the vocabulary. So, if rowdy chaos and a genuine rampage is what you seek, keep looking (this is not for you). WONT IT BE COLD? Santa Cycle pro tip: Obtain a Santa suit that is sized a tad large so you have room to add layers underneath. You will look awesomely festive, plus you stay warm. P.s. No matter the weather, the comradery and cheerful spirit are the driving forces behind this merry ride! We all know that December in Colorado could be a balmy 50 degrees or a brisk 30. Ultimately, the riders' "jollitude" will determine the outcome, not the conditions... just ask the folks who endured the unpredicted snow squall during the 2019 Ride 😜. WHERE DO I FIND A GOOD SANTA SUIT? Ask Uncle Eddie... and your colleagues... and your neighbors... and your friends. You might be surprised by who you know with a Santa suit in their closet. No luck? Check out our local thrift stores, costume retailers, consignment clothing shops, even antique stores can be jackpots. Or, check out our Santa Style page for online Amazon options. CAN I JUST WEAR A SANTA HAT? Does a hat make a rampage? er, no. Anyone can put on a hat, but the dedicated merrymakers dress to impress. Go big, shine bright, and bring your jollitude! In the true spirit of the ride, riders are highly encouraged to adorn themselves in head-to-toe festivity... helmets too! Helmets are STRONGLY encouraged and can become the crown jewel of your attire. Note: Santa welcomes all relevant characters (Think: Reindeer, Elves, Yeti's, Grinches, etc...) See video for wearable inspiration: Bike Fed-Santa Rampage. HOW FAR IS THE RIDE? As far as you want! We sincerely hope you join us for the entire route, but know there is no obligation. You can join us for one segment... or two... or three! From start to finish, the entire route is less than 12 miles, broken into 2-3 mile legs. If the full route is beyond your comfort/ability level, know that The Santa's try our jolly-best to adhere to the scheduled times. So check the schedule, pick your favorite venue(s), and start/stop there! WHAT IF I AM NOT A CYCLIST? This is a slow-roll, cruisy ride meant to be merry. It is not a race or a competition; just good jolly fun! While we ride at a comfortable pace, know this is not a no-drop ride. (see the "what else do I need to know" FAQ below) Still not sure if the ride is for you? Check the event schedule, pick your favorite venue(s), arrange an alternative means of transit, and stop by to commune with/cheer on the cycling Santas. IS THE ROUTE CLOSED TO CARS? No, there will be vehicles. Routes are selected to avoid major streets. However, there are and will always be inherent and real risks with riding a bicycle, traveling on streets, and in a group. Know your ability and comfort level. Also, review "What else do I need to know" FAQ below. IS THIS EVENT SUITABLE FOR CHILDREN? This event may NOT be suitable for children. Note: this is a Brewery crawl, with loud, festive tunes (that may contain an explicit lyric or two), where a large group of bikes travel amongst weekend vehicular traffic. There is no route support, safety escort, or sweep vehicle. Thankfully, Northern Colorado offers endless community events, suitable for all ages. Looking for a kiddo-friendly option... Have you checked out Bike the Lights hosted by Bike Fort Collins? Learn More here (click to visit Bike Fort Collins). IS THIS RIDE ABOUT CHRISTMAS? Nope. We just happen to dress like a particular jovial character. WHAT ELSE DO I NEED TO KNOW? As individuals, under voluntary participation, you accept that there are inherent risks in life. You acknowledge all risks and assume sole responsibility for your own safety. Additionally, you maintain personal ownership for the necessary research to understand the conditions (both static and potentially dynamic) of this event, the supplies/preparations required for your participation, and applicable bicycle laws. At this point in time there is no route support. There is no safety escort, no sag wagon, no gear truck, nor sweep crew. You are fully responsible for yourself. Likewise, it is up to each individual to create an awesome experience for everyone (fellow riders, the host venues we visit, the bystanders, and the community as a whole). On that note, and this should go without stating, dignity is expected. Any individual or group who initiates or contributes to uncivilized, rude, ruckus, or otherwise unsafe behavior will be asked to disassociate immediately. The Santa Cycle Rampage ride will be a welcomed and desired event that the entire community gets excited about every year. |
